User Experience Research/Design
The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is dedicated to research in driver behavior and traffic infrastructure. It is one of the worlds leading transportation institutes, with a dedicated test track equipped with roadway infrastructure and artificial weather generators.
I had the wonderful opportunity to assist VTTI researchers with human factors studies pertaining to autonomous driving. I performed on-road driving tests, simulator studies, and driving tests in controlled environments. I also performed data analysis using MATLAB and Excel, with a focus on gaining insights from qualitative questionnaire data about driver frustration, performance, mental workload, and their experience with innovative and novel vehicle HMI.
Note: Due to the proprietary nature of the projects, I cannot include detailed information about the technologies we evaluated and the sponsors. However, I would be more than happy to talk to you about the projects and personal insights that I gained in more general terms! Here is a link to my contact information.
